Ride Forever is an ACC initiative, aimed at giving riders sound information and access to training, so they can make better choices.
Completing at least a Silver, but preferably both Silver and Gold, courses is mandatory for RoSPANZ test candidates. The Ride Forever program introduces riders to safe riding practices and enhances their skillset, giving a taste of the principles covered in the Roadcraft Handbook.
Courses are held at locations throughout New Zealand at regular intervals.
As an advanced motorcyclist you should be able to make good progress whilst still adhering to the law! You should be familiar with the New Zealand Road Code, copies of which are available from most bookstores. This should be considered as essential reading prior to applying for a RoSPA assessment, if not prior to riding on a public road!
Our riding standards and training follow the training system used by the UK police force when training their motorcycle patrol officers. The emphasis is on defensive riding, observation and machine control. If you are serious about progressing your riding safely and joining us, this is a ”must read” book which, along with the NZ Road Code, forms the foundation of all our riding, on all roads, in all conditions, all of the time.
RoSPA UK is out parent/affiliated organisation on which our basic principles are founded.
There are many Youtube channels relating to advanced riding techniques which can be a helpful tool for improving understanding of the methods described in Roadcraft. A very good example, with comprehensive coverage of most aspects of good riding practices is Roadcraft Nottingham.
